VIOLETTE
A film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Synopsis
Violette, in her forties, works as a cemetery caretaker in a small town in Burgundy. Her daily life is shaped by the confidences of both occasional visitors and regulars who come to seek comfort in her lodge. One day, she is visited by a police officer, Julien Seul, who has come to scatter his mother’s ashes on the grave of the man she loved. Intrigued by Violette’s story — particularly the mysterious disappearance of her husband shortly after they arrived at the cemetery — Julien decides to investigate. In doing so, he unwittingly brings painful memories to the surface, along with long-buried truths that may ultimately offer Violette a path to healing.
